The Compton College women's soccer team got on the win board on Sept. 5 as the Coyotes outfought visiting San Diego City College, 1-0.
Compton (1-1 record) scored the game's lone goal in the 61st minute when sophomore transfer midfielder Chloe Bautista-Therieau (from El Camino in 2023) scored off a corner kick assist by freshman midfielder Elisa Aquino.
Directed by head coach Jose Garcia, the Coyotes received strong goaltending by first-year goalie Chloe Cordero, who made six saves for the shutout.
Compton's roster features returning letterman forwards Brisa Estrada and Viviana Valencia, sophomore defender Leslie Chavarria, the team's goalie last season, the experienced Bautista-Therieau, and talented newcomer Aquino, who took three shots v. SD City.
The Coyotes have a bevy of freshmen in netminder Cordero, defenders Maralyn Marquez, Dolores Rodriguez, and Kylee Smith, forward/midfielders Rose Angon, Edith Moreno, Juliana Bravo, Sandy Gonzalez, and Evelynn Lomeli.
Compton next hosts Santa Ana on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
